Classroom teachers will use strategies within the classroom to meet the needs of advanced learners. These strategies may include, but are not limited to, enrichment, curriculum modification, alternative assessments, various instructional strategies, flexible grouping, acceleration, curriculum compacting, learning stations, and independent study. The type of differentiation will depend upon the grade level, subject area, knowledge and skills of the students, and the resources available.

SUBJECT OR GRADE ACCELERATION

Acceleration refers to a student attending a class with older students in a particular subject. Although rare, occasionally a student will participate in full-grade acceleration.

WIN TIME

WIN stands for “What I Need”. This a specific time set aside in the day for students to receive intervention or enrichment. Enrichment refers to activities that enhance students’ experiences in a specific area. Students that are identified as Advanced Learners are able to work in small groups to extend their learning.
